India win despite Pollard century [IND-WIN:4-1(5/5)]

A blistering maiden century by Pollard (110-ball knock of 119, with 10 sixes) couldn't help West Indies as they fell 34 runs short of India's score of 267/6. Irfan Pathan caused plenty of excitement with his famous inswingers and took 2-42, including a wicket of the very first delivery on his return. The West Indies had slumped to 78 for five before an 89-run stand between Pollard and Russell brought them back into the match.

The hosts, who won the toss for the fifth consecutive time in this series, lost two quick wickets in the first three balls, but a maiden century by Manoj Tiwary on a sweltering day in Chennai helped India's cause. Tiwary retired hurt with cramp after a 117-run partnership with Kohli (80) who became the highest ODI run-scorer in 2011. Out of 34 matches he played this year, Kohli has scored 1381 runs at an average of 47.62 from 34 ODIs. This phenomenal achievement includes 4 centuries and 8 half-tons. Virender Sehwag, R Ashwin and Vinay Kumar made way for Irfan Pathan, Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwary.

India's home season has featured only two losses out of 14 matches. Rohit Sharma, who scored 305 (including three fifties) at an average of 76.25, was named man-of-the-series and Manoj Tiwary the man-of-the-match for his 104. Ravindra Jadeja (9 at 23.77) and Kemar Roach (9 at 30.44) are the top wicket-takers in the series.

Sehwag's One-Day Record 219 wins series [IND-WIN:3-1(4/5)]

Virender Sehwag broke the world record for highest individual ODI score, getting to 219 from 149 balls (he needed just 140 balls to get his double-century), and taking India to its highest ever team total of 418/5. The 33-year-old right-hand bat surpassed the previous record of 200* by Sachin Tendulkar from 147 balls, against South Africa in Gwailor in 2010. India’s stand-in captain's brutal 149-ball innings included world record-equalling 25 fours and seven sixes. He also became the fastest Indian to score an ODI 150, taking only 112 balls to reach the milestone. It was the 33-year-old Sehwag's 240th one-day international appearance. His first 50 came in 41 balls (55 in 15th over), second in 28 balls (100 in 23rd), third in 43 balls (150 in 36th) and fourth 50 in 28 balls (200 in 44th).

The Indian spinners took nine of the ten wickets with debutant Rahul Sharma claiming three wickets off the last ball of each of his first three overs, and Ravindra Jadeja turning in remarkable figures of 3 for 34 to get West Indies out for 265 with 4 balls to spare. Irfan Pathan, who was recalled for the last two ODIs, remained on the sidelines.

Irfan Pathan replaces Yadav for last 2 ODIs

All-rounder Irfan Pathan, who last represented India in England in June 2009 during the Twenty20 World Cup, has been called up to India's 15-man squad for the remaining two one-day games against West Indies.

Umesh Yadav will leave for Australia early to prepare for the test series along with six other players - Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha and Wriddhiman Saha.

West Indies snatch victory from India [IND-WIN:2-1(3/5)]

Man of the match Ravi Rampaul (4-57) bowled West Indies to its first victory on tour on Monday night. It was India's first home loss in 12 matches. Rohit Sharma's third fifty in a row couldn't help India, as they were all out for 244, chasing 260. Earlier, A last wicket unbeaten partnership between Darren Sammy (41) and Andre Russell (40) gave West Indies 79 runs from 34 balls, and propped them up to 260 for 5 which made all the difference in the end as India lost by 16 runs.

Reported Earlier: India are firmly on course to record a second successive one-day series triumph at home as they take on the West Indies in the third ODI of the five-match rubber at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera. Nearly 1,500 police personnel are deployed in and around the hotel and the stadium, which has turned into a virtual fortress in view of the anniversary of the Babri mosque demolition and Moharram that coincide on December 6.

Second ODI - India win by 5 wickets [IND-WIN:2-0(2/5)]

A century by Kohli (117 off 123 balls) and 90 not out by Rohit Sharma helped India to a 5 wicket victory over West Indies as Vizag. Chasing a target of 270 set by the West Indies, India reached the target with 11 deliveries to spare.

Earlier, Rampaul slammed a maiden one-day fifty on his way to a world record for the most runs scored by a number 10 batsman. Rampaul, who went into the match with an average of 9.47 and a top score of 26 not out, hit six sixes and as many fours to finish unbeaten on 86 from 66 deliveries. He added a remarkable unbeaten 99-run stand for the last wicket with Kemar Roach (24 not out) to help West Indies set 270-run target for India.

Reported earlier: With the first ODI under their belt, India will look to run away to a 2-0 lead but both teams will go into the second ODI feeling pretty much neck-and-neck. West Indies, who did much better than expected while defending a low score, have ensured the pressure will be on the Indian batsmen in the second one-dayer. The Dr YSR Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium promises a wicket full of runs.

India beat West Indies by one wicket in first ODI [IND-WIN:1-0(1/5)]

Rohit Sharma's match-winning innings of 72 helped India clinch a nerve-wrecking one-wicket victory over the West Indies after they had lost 5 wickets for 23 runs between overs 4 and 12th after an opening partnership of 37 runs. Eleven runs were needed from the final pair - tailenders Varun Aaron and Umesh - off 23 deliveries after India lost Rohit Sharma and Vinay Kumar in two consecutive wicket maiden overs. Both of them took 6 runs each - Aaron from 11 balls, and Yadav from 9 balls - including one boundary each that the Indian fans won't forget for a long time. With West Indies looking for the last wicket, Umesh Yadav drove the final delivery of the match to long-on and the vociferous Cuttack crowd went nuts.

Earlier, in-form batsman Darren Bravo hit 60 from 74 balls as the West Indies stuttered to 211 from their 50 overs. Stand-in captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and elected to field first. For India, Parthiv Patel opened the innings with Sehwag, while Aaron, Yadav and Vinay Kumar were the seamers.

Praveen Kumar to miss first three ODIs

Praveen Kumar has been ruled out of the first three ODIs to be played at Cuttack (November 29), Vizag (December 2) and Ahmedabad (December 5). He has been replaced by the Karnataka fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun. Varun Aaron, Vinay Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Mithun are the fast-bowling options in India's squad in the absence of Praveen Kumar.

India vs West Indies 3rd Test - test drawn with scores level [IND-WIN:2-0(3/3)]

West Indies salvaged a draw giving India only one run from the last ball when they needed two. This was only the second time a Test has been drawn with scores level. Both teams scored 724 runs.

Reported earlier: Sachin Tendulkar fell agonisingly short of his 100th international century once again before off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin notched up his maiden century as India conceded a lead of 108 runs to West Indies. Ashwin put on a vital 97-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Virat Kohli, helping the hosts avoid follow-on.

Sachin Tendulkar - who has 51 centuries in tests and 48 in one day internationals - ended the day 33 runs short of becoming the first man to record 100 international centuries while Rahul Dravid completed a milestone to lead India's strong reply in the third and final test against West Indies on Thursday.

Talented batsman Rohit Sharma has been named in the squad, in place of Yuvraj Singh, for the third and final Test against the West Indies starting Tuesday at the Wankhede stadium. He has an opportunity to make his test debut, if Dhoni picks him ahead of Virat Kohli - who has already played 3 tests against West Indies - to be in the final XI. Sharma was picked for the opening Test against South Africa in Nagpur last February, but didn't play after twisting his ankle while playing football on the eve of the test match.

India vs West Indies 2nd Test - India seal series with innings win [IND-WIN:2-0(2/3)]

India took an unassailable 2-0 series lead against the West Indies with an innings and 15-run victory in Kolkata. VVS Laxman (176*), captain Mahendra Dhoni (144) and Rahul Dravid (119) all made centuries for the hosts as they amassed a first innings lead of 478 after declaring on 631-7 and then dismissing the visitors for 153. The West Indies showed resilience in their second innings with Darren Bravo making 136, but they were eventually all out for 463 with more than four sessions to spare, just like in the first Test in New Delhi where India beat the visitors by five wickets.

Reported earlier: India chose to bat first on the Eden Gardens pitch after Dhoni won the toss. India retained the same XI from Delhi while West Windies made two changes.

The second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata will start at 9 am as opposed to 9.30 am in other centres as light fades fast in the eastern parts of India. India have made no changes to their 15-man squad for the second Test against West Indies which starts on November 14. The last time West Indies won a Test against India was in Jamaica in May 2002.

Sachin (76 off 148 balls) and Laxman (58 not out off 105 balls) hit half centuries to take India to a comfortable 5 wicket victory over West Indies after conceding a big first-innings lead, and register their first win in seven Tests. It was India's third-highest successful chase ever.

During the course of the second innings, Sachin Tendulkar became the first player in history to score 15,000 runs in Test match cricket and overtook Rahul Dravid as the leading run-getter in chases. Opening batsman Adrian Barath has been included in West Indies' Test squad for their tour of India after recovering from a hamstring injury. Barath missed the two-match series in Bangladesh and his return comes at the expense of Lendl Simmons.

Harbhajan, Raina out of Test squad

Spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has taken 406 wickets in 98 Tests, was left out of the Indian squad for the first Test - against the West Indies to be played in New Delhi from November 6 - announced in a media release by the BCCI after a meeting of the selection committee in Kolkata on Friday. Middle-order batsman Suresh Raina was also missing as other senior players including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh returned from injuries. Unorthodox off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, leg-spinner Rahul Sharma and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha are in the 15-member squad.

Day five: India win series after stalemate [IND-WIN:1-0 (3/3)]

The captains agreed to an early finish and the draw as India were on 94-3, chasing a target of 180, after the hosts compiled a second innings total of 332. Chanderpaul made an unbeaten 116 - his 23rd Test century in his 133rd Test, a West Indian record.

India will now turn their attention to the first Test against England at Lord's on July 21.

Day four: Kirk Edwards ton fails to halt India

West Indies batsman Kirk Edwards hit a century on debut, but could not prevent India from closing in on victory on day four of the third Test in Dominica. Edwards (110) shared a third-wicket stand of 161 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul (73 no) before falling to Harbajan Singh (3-61). Before lunch, Sharma and Praveen Kumar struck early, tightening India's grip, and leaving West Indies 26 for two at the end of the first session. The Indian new-ball pair removed openers Kieran Powell and Adrian Barath for four and six respectively.

Earlier, India's lower-order batting was again undermined by Fidel Edwards, as the visitors were dismissed for 347 an hour and 10 minutes before the interval, replying to West Indies' first innings total of 204. India continued from their overnight total of 308 for six, but Edwards claimed three of the last four wickets in a session interrupted by rain, finishing with 5-103 from 28.2 overs.

Day three: Dhoni, Raina steer India to 104-run lead

After the first two days were badly affected by rain in the hurricane season, India closed day three of the third and final Test against West Indies in Dominica with a lead of 104 at 308-6. The Windies, dismissed for 204 and reduced to three specialist bowlers, struck twice in the opening six overs, removing Murali Vijay and Rahul Dravid, to leave India on 18-2. But four Indian batsmen reached half centuries and skipper Mahendra Dhoni remained unbeaten on 65 from 109 balls, his 21st Test fifty.

Day two: Harbhajan reaches 400 wickets on a rain-hit day

Harbhajan Singh became the 11th man to reach 400 Test wickets as India dismissed the West Indies for 204 on a rain-hit Day two at the final Test. Harbhajan bowled Carlton Baugh, the hosts' top scorer with 60, to become the third Indian bowler – and 11th overall – to reach the landmark, with figures of two for 26. Having resumed at 75-3 the Windies were all out for 204. Ishant Sharma took five for 77. India reached 8-0 in the four overs before rain ended play for the day.

Day five: Rain delay and poor light forces a draw [IND-WIN:1-0 (2/3)]

India were denied a second straight Test win in the West Indies as a rain delay and poor light forced a draw after 71 overs on the fifth day. Chasing a competitive target of 281, West Indies reached 202 for seven when the umpires Ian Gould and Asad Rauf decided that light wasn't good enough to continue although 10.3 mandatory overs were still left to be bowled. Ishant Sharma was the man of the match, having taken his maiden 10-wicket haul.

VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid both struck half-centuries to leave India in a strong position after day four in the second Test against West Indies. Laxman was unbeaten on 72 at the close while Dravid made 55 as India finished the day on 229-3 in their second innings - an overall lead of 240 over West Indies heading into the final day. Opener Abhinav Mukund (48) and Virat Kohli (26 not out) also contributed.

Day three: Sharma's 6-55 gives India advantage

Ishant Sharma took Test-best figures of six for 55 to help India establish a narrow first-innings lead over West Indies in the second Test in Barbados. Replying to India's 201, West Indies were bowled out for 190, with India then scoring 23-0 in their second innings after a protracted day's play.

India fast bowler Ishant Sharma snared two wickets in four balls on a rain-affected Day two of the second Test against West Indies to leave them 98/5. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Marlon Samuels shared a partnership of 41 either side of persistent rain showers.

Ishant Sharma led the Indian bowling with 3-31, claiming nightwatchman Devendra Bishoo (13) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (18) in the morning to move to 99 career wickets.

Day one: India fight back against West Indies after collapse

Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar and newcomer Abhimanyu Mithun collected a wicket each as India's pacemen brought them back into the second Test against West Indies in Barbados today after the Indian batsmen had collapsed for 201. West Indies innings was in tatters at 3-30 by stumps on the first day.

VVS Laxman top-scored for India with a battling 85 and Suresh Raina hit 53 as India, who completed a convincing 63-run first Test victory inside four days in Kingston, appeared to gain a slight edge on Day one.

Day four: India beat West Indies by 63 runs in first Test [IND-WIN:1-0(1/3)]

India's bowlers dominated the West Indies as the tourists completed a 63-run victory inside four days in the first Test in Kingston. The home side resumed on 131-3, needing a further 195 runs to secure victory, but their hopes were soon extinguished with swing bowler Praveen Kumar claiming the key wickets of Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Darren Bravo. They were bowled out 35 minutes after lunch for 262. India scored 246 and 252 while the West Indies were on the back foot after posting 173 in their first innings.

Rahul Dravid, who tackled the bouncing ball with soft wrists, on a pitch where the ball moved, bounced and spun treacherously, and hit a century in his second innings was awarded the man of the match award. The second Test begins in Bridgetown, Barbados next Tuesday.

Day three: Dravid ton gives India advantage

38-year-old Rahul Dravid, the oldest active Test cricketer, struck an assured century in his 151st Test to give India the edge after three days of the first Test against West Indies. He completed his 32nd Test hundred before he was the final wicket to fall in India's total of 252.

Windies needing 326 for victory, quickly put on 62 in 11 overs with the help of Adrian Barath and Lendl Simmons. However three wickets fell quickly but Darren Bravo was unbeaten on 30 as they closed 195 short of their target at 131-3.

Day one: Suresh Raina and Harbajan Singh save India's blushes

An enterprising 146-run partnership between Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina spared India's blushes on Day one of the first Test against West Indies. The tourists were close to collapse at 85-6 when the seventh-wicket duo counterattacked before Harbhajan (70) was dismissed by Fidel Edwards (4-56).

West Indies lost opener Lendl Simmons to end the day on 34-1.

Darren Bravo hit a swashbuckling 86 to help West Indies to a seven-wicket win over India in the final match of the one-day international series. Virat Kohli struck 10 fours in his 94 as India were bowled out for 251 after being asked to bat in Kingston.

The Windies needed 98 from the final 12 overs before left-hander Bravo hit six sixes and though he fell with 39 needed they got home with eight balls left. It was a second successive win for West Indies but India took the series 3-2.

Anthony Martin took 4-35 and Andre Russell 3-16 as India slumped from 110-4 to 146 all out in just 39 overs to give West Indies their first victory in the current series.
Rohit Sharma provided some resistance with a breezy 39 from 47 balls before his innings came to an end when he holed out to Darren Bravo off the bowling of Martin.

India sealed a one-day international series win over the West Indies courtesy of a brilliant 86 not out from Rohit Sharma, overhauling West Indies' total of 225-8. India collapsed to 92-6 before an 88-run stand between Sharma and Harbhajan Singh (41) guided them to safety.

Andre Russell's 92 was the highlight of the day, striking eight fours and five sixes from only 64 deliveries.

An under-strength India easily defended 159 to beat West Indies by 16 runs in their Twenty20 match in Trinidad. With Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh among those not playing, India were grateful for Subramaniam Badrinath's 43, having been 56-4, after WI skipper Darren Sammy chose to bowl first. Yusuf Pathan's 15 from six balls helped set a total the hosts never truly threatened.

Dwayne Bravo hit 41 but West Indies fell 16 runs short of India’s 159. Badrinath was awarded the Man of the Match award for his 43. This India-West Indies match was the 200th in the history of Twenty20 Internationals.

Suresh Raina to lead India in West Indies one-dayers

Gambhir, Yuvraj ruled out of Twenty20, ODI series

Batsman Suresh Raina will captain India in the one-day leg of their forthcoming tour of the West Indies. The Indian board had already opted to rest regular skipper Mahendra Dhoni from the one-dayers.

The tour to West Indies is turning out to be a tour of the fittest who survived the rigorous of World Cup and Indian Premier League as two more star players were ruled out yesterday as Indian selectors announced the Test squad for the tour. Gautam Gambhir, who was appointed as the new captain for the Twenty20 and One-dayers, is suffering from a shoulder injury and Yuvraj Singh has been diagnosed having an upper respiratory infection with a small patch of pneumonitis in the left lung. Meanwhile, legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, already rested for the one-dayers, has opted out of the Tests.
